Recycling your vehicle is not the same as making a car donation. The Recycling Program is provided to assist those that wish to dispose of (recycle) their car, boat or vehicle, taking advantage of the free pickup, and who do not wish a tax receipt (or are not qualified for one), and would like some benefit in addition to the free pickup. This program offers certain benefits based on the value of the vehicle. It is important to note that this program is a for-profit program and persons using this program cannot claim the vehicle donation as a noncash charitable contribution. It is also important to note that the Car Donation Program is a Non-Profit program. Many people think that because we call it the "recycling" program that it is used for picking up cars that are junk or "parts only" cars. This is not the case. Both programs have the same criteria for what is accepted. In both cases cars are not picked up for "parts only" unless the car is very new. For example we might pick up a 1999 Lexus that has been in a wreck and can only be sold for parts, but we wouldn't pick up a 1985 VW that is wrecked even if it has good parts left on it. Persons using this program will not receive a tax receipt from a 501 (c) (3) charity.
